We are excited to share the outstanding achievements of our students in the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP), and BTEC examinations this year. Our students have worked diligently, and their dedication is reflected in the remarkable results.

The worldwide average score stands at 30.24, showing a slight decrease from the previous year’s 31.98. Singapore has a remarkable pass rate of 94.79% while the global pass rate is at 79.35% (85.6% in May 2022). Our Class of 2023 had a remarkable 95% passing rate in the IBDP exam. Among our exceptional students, three achieved an impressive score of 43 out of 45, showcasing their dedication and excellence.

We are also proud to announce that 31 students, making up 36 percent of our cohort, have achieved the prestigious bilingual diploma. This accomplishment not only showcases their academic achievements but also their proficiency in multiple languages, which is a valuable skill in our interconnected world.

This year we had a record 229 students taking 470 AP exams with our students out-performing the world average in most of the courses. AP exams are marked on a scale of 1-5, 80 percent of our students achieved scores of 3 or above, indicating their mastery of advanced subjects and their preparedness for higher education. Our students’ dedication to excellence is also evident in our unmatched pass rate of 96 percent, which surpasses the global average of around 78 percent.

Additionally, we are delighted to report our outstanding BTEC results, with a 100% pass rate.

Superintendent Dr. Mark Wenzel said, “Our Stamford focus on holistic education and inclusion translates to real-life experience where our students develop strong social skills; values such as ingenuity, compassion, courage and integrity; and a deep sense of global mindedness through projects and experiential learning. Recent stories from our 2023 graduates and other recent alumni underscore the importance of this part of our mission.”

Hear from Our Graduates

I come from a Dutch-Surinamese family and, like many of us, have lived in various places. I have spent most of my life living in Washington, DC, and moved to Singapore at the beginning of 11th grade because of my parents’ work. I am now finishing up my last year as an AP student at Stamford American.

Moving to a new school during the height of the pandemic was a challenging experience because it was difficult for me to integrate into the school community. However, over time I was able to find my place in school sports like football, which allowed me to connect with more people. I was able to develop a more global perspective through friends from different backgrounds, and these relationships will always be important to me.

After graduating, I plan to attend Utrecht University in the Netherlands, where I will study politics to help enact change on a broader scale.

Michael Eijbergen

Class of 2023

I am Indonesian and moved to Singapore in the fifth grade. Initially, I was placed in the English as an Additional Language (EAL) program, where I learned how to better communicate with classmates and teachers. I found EAL to be an opportunity to learn about the concept of belonging by interacting with others who were going through the same journey.

During my years at Stamford American, I sought opportunities to connect with others through sports, musicals, and clubs. I participated in various sports teams and learned the importance of cooperation, discipline, and perseverance. These qualities helped me prepare for my future and graduation. I plan to attend Syracuse University to study political science and law.

I believe that Stamford American has become an important part of my academic life and that the memories I have with friends and teachers will stay with me in college.

Charlotte Aninditta

Class of 2023

I am originally from India, but have spent my life as a third culture kid, living in countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates before moving to Singapore in 10th grade. Choosing to take both AP and IB classes, my time at Stamford American shaped me as a person, pushed me out of my comfort zone, and developed my leadership skills. I was able to engage in extracurricular activities such as being the chair of the Athletics Council, captain of the U19 touch rugby team, and founder of the iBusiness club.

As a blended pathway student, I was given the opportunity to choose academically challenging classes that will help me in college. The academic and college counseling team at Stamford supported me in preparing for my future after graduation. I will be attending Northeastern University in Boston to major in finance with the hopes of becoming a financial consultant.

The relationships formed with teachers and students at Stamford American will always be close to my heart.
